CBD has had an exciting few years, hasn’t it? The number of people discovering its benefits keeps on growing and growing. One of the most popular ways to use CBD is to manage pain and it can be found in many different ingestible and topical products.

But while the number of products grows, so does the amount of plastic packaging produced. It’s not our beloved CBD's fault; it’s part of a bigger problem where soothing pain comes with creating waste.

Just think, what are your go-to items for relieving aches and pains? How many of them come in plastic packaging? Research shows that the US is only recycling 5% of its plastic, so while these products may help you, they’re harming the planet.

That’s why we’ve created our Relief Stick: the world’s first zero-waste CBD product. This game-changer targets muscle and joint pain. We can’t wait for you to meet it…

Introducing Muscle & Joint Relief Stick

There are two key things we hope you take from our Relief Stick (or, more accurately, two things we don’t want you to take from it): no pain and no waste.

Let’s start with the latter. The cosmetics industry produces over 120 billion units of packaging each year. To do our part to change this trend, we decided to package our Relief Stick in a zero-waste home compostable tube.

Of course, this statistic covers the whole cosmetics industry, including all kinds of CBD products, so why did we choose muscle and joint relief?

Well, we believe that everyone deserves to live both green and pain-free. We’re committed to finding natural solutions to everyday ailments and we’ve carefully created the perfect blend of botanicals to ease pain and soothe the skin.

To learn more about it, let’s go from the inside out:

  • Its nourishing ingredients
  • Its pain-relief and skin-friendly functions
  • Its innovative packaging

What’s in our Relief Stick and why? 11 Nourishing Ingredients

  • Full Spectrum Hemp (Cannabis Sativa) ~ for inflammation

This powerful ingredient can calm inflammation and encourages blood flow to the targeted area. If you want to know the ins and outs of full-spectrum hemp, we encourage you to read this post.

  • Hemp Seed Oil (Cannabis Sativa) ~ for irritation

Don’t be fooled, hemp seed oil is different from full spectrum hemp! Where the former uses the stalks, leaves, and flowers of the hemp plant, this one uses just the seeds. Our Hemp seed oil is the recommended 3:1 ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties and soothes irritated skin.

  • Spike Lavender (Lavandula Latifolia) ~ for cramping

We all know and love lavender for its calm-inducing scent, and while Spike Lavender has a similar aroma, it’s a different species with unique benefits. Ideal for after exercise, it helps relax the muscles and prevent tightness and cramping.

  • Rosemary ct Camphor (Rosmarinus Officinalis ct Camphor) ~ for aches

Nobody likes the feeling of an aching body and a tired mind. Luckily, we have rosemary ct camphor to wake us up. Believed to stimulate the mind and promote clear thinking, it also eases aching pains.

  • Plai (Zingiber Cassumunar) ~ for cooling

Plai is part of the ginger family, but unlike the warming spice we use in Christmas cookies, it has a cooling effect. This means Plai oil is perfect for comforting hot, puffy, and painful areas.

  • Calendula (Calendula Officinalis) ~ for soothing

Traditionally used for treating wounds, this anti-inflammatory ingredient helps speed up the healing process and reduce swelling. Its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties soothe the skin.

  • Moringa (Moringa Oleifera) ~ for protection

Moringa is a knight in shining armor for your skin; it’s an antioxidant that contains vitamins, minerals, and proteins that protects cells from damage. It deeply hydrates dry and irritated skin and has also been found to reduce swelling.

  • Coconut Oil (Cocos Nucifera) ~ for hydration

This one is another skin savior. Made up of medium-chain fatty acids, coconut oil helps your skin retain moisture and provides a protective barrier that shields it from environmental toxins, dirt, and daily grime.

  • Vitamin E  (Tocopherol) ~ for everyone’s skin

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that quickly destroys free radicals on your skin. Most Vitamin E is sourced from soy, but ours is derived from non-GMO sunflower oil instead. Jimbo is allergic to soy and we wanted to make sure that our topical products can be tried, tested, and enjoyed by everyone (including us!).

  • Beeswax (Cera Alba) ~ for texture

A product needs to feel good as well as do good, right? We’ve included beeswax for a silky-smooth texture, and you’ll be glad to know our honeybees roam free in fields of wildflowers never touched by pesticides.

  • Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis) ~ for absorption

We added Jojoba oil to help you get the most out of all the wonderful ingredients together. It mimics the skin’s natural sebum so it’s easily absorbed, and helps the other ingredients, such as full spectrum hemp, be absorbed better too. It’s also pretty amazing in its own right: studies have found Jojoba oil applied on irritated skin exerts anti-inflammatory activity similar to an anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and swelling.

Jimbo & Jules Muscle & Joint Relief Stick for elbow and knee pain

What does our Relief Stick do?

Now you know what’s in it, you’re probably thinking ‘well, what does it do?’. This proprietary mix of ingredients helps naturally ease muscle and joint pain and nourishes sensitive skin in the process.

  • Natural Muscle & Joint Relief
  • Did you know that 20% of people in the US suffer from chronic pain? More worrying is that researchers have found its prevalence is increasing, with joint pain and lower back pain as the biggest cause for concern.

For us, chronic pain is more than just a statistic. Both Jimbo and Jules have lived with the weight of chronic injury and illness and found relief in nature’s remedies.

The combination of ingredients in our Relief Stick is designed to soothe the targeted area of the body it’s applied to. Just squeeze the tube and apply it to areas of discomfort and pain to feel the relief (yes, it really is that easy!).

  • Kind To Your Skin
  • Injuries usually come with scrapes and scratches, yet most topical products promoted for pain relief can’t be used on broken skin or open wounds. Ingredients like arnica, lidocaine, or menthol are used, which are either toxic or cause irritation. We’ve made sure our Relief Stick is safe to use on minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.

More than simply safe, though, it’s also effective for healing the skin. If you glance back over our ingredient list, you’ll notice that jojoba oil, calendula, and vitamin E (and many of the others!) have been found to help heal the skin.

    Zero-Waste Packaging

The fastest and most effective way to tackle cosmetic’s big waste problem is to get to the root of the issue and reduce the amount created in the first place. Better yet? Cut it out completely. That’s where zero-waste comes in.

You might already know that our zero-waste lip balms are packaged in 100% post-consumer paper – well, our Relief Stick is too! Cardboard packaging that covers cosmetics products contributes to the loss of 18 million acres of forest each year. Using post-consumer paper (i.e. paper that has already been used) eliminates the pressure for new resources to be created.

Unlike plastic-packaged pain relief, when it’s finished it won’t be hanging around landfills for years. In fact, it won’t be hanging around anywhere. Where most compostable packaging takes two months to decompose naturally, and even longer when coated in wax, ours is gone within 2 to 3 weeks.

We hope this blog post has given you the confidence to try our Relief Stick for yourself. It’s your time to manage pain effectively, naturally, and sustainably.
